Uno sguardo più da vicino
This is an original handmade South Red agate bracelet composed of two distinct bead types combined into a single strand: ice-flower South Red agate abacus-style beads and ice-flower South Red agate barrel beads, joined by decorative copper fittings. The strand forms a closed circular loop that holds its rounded shape when laid flat, with each segment of beads and metal accents distributed evenly around the circumference.
The primary beads are natural South Red agate, a translucent to semi-translucent stone with a warm coral-orange to deep vermillion red body color. Several beads display the characteristic "ice-flower" appearance, in which clear or milky-white icy zones run through the red material, creating soft gradients and cloudy inclusions known as cotton-like texture. Individual beads vary slightly in tone, from pale pinkish-white edges to richer saturated reds at their centers, and some show small internal ice cracks, faint mineral pits, and patches of whitish translucency. These inclusions and color shifts are visible in the polished material itself rather than as surface decoration, giving each bead an individual natural character.
In form, the abacus-style beads are built from a sequence of rounded, ribbed drum segments stacked together so that each bead reads as a series of shallow rounded ridges, closely echoing the shape of traditional counting beads on an abacus. The barrel beads are elongated, smooth-sided cylinders with softly rounded, convex ends and a high glossy polish that catches light in sharp specular highlights along their length. One barrel bead in particular shows a strong deep red body with a clean reflective sheen, while another bead appears more translucent with a concentrated red core surrounded by a milky halo.
The strand specification is close to 10mm in bead size, and a digital caliper measurement captured on one of the barrel beads reads 9.9mm, confirming that the beads sit just under the nominal 10mm mark. This approximately 10mm scale gives the bracelet a substantial, chunky presence with a visible round profile on the wrist. The individual copper fitting
