This handmade rabbit plush doll is crafted entirely from old-style homespun cotton cloth, known as traditional earth cloth, which gives the piece its distinctive woven basket-weave texture in deep indigo blue and off-white tones. The fabric has a matte, slightly coarse, hand-woven grain that is clearly visible across every panel of the body, with subtle shade variations ranging from slate grey-blue to near-black indigo where the threads cross. The doll is sewn stitch by stitch by hand, and each finished rabbit has its own unique character, so no two pieces are exactly alike.
The rabbit is designed in a seated pose with an oversized rounded head, very long floppy ears that drape down past its body on both sides, a plump pear-shaped torso, short stubby arms, and large rounded haunches and feet. The proportions are deliberately soft and rounded, giving it a gentle, folk-art silhouette. The surface is softly stuffed, producing a squishy, tender hand feel described as soft and yielding, making it pleasant to hold as well as to display.
