This handcrafted bracelet is a Navajo-totem style beaded wrist piece executed in the Amekaji (Japanese Americana) aesthetic, built around 925 sterling silver beads paired with imported glazed glass beads. The design language draws directly on Native American Navajo silverwork traditions, echoing the vintage Southwestern look popularized by classic Americana and Japanese heritage jewelry houses. Each example is a one-of-a-kind piece: no two beads are exactly alike, and the color arrangement and stamped detailing of every bracelet are unique.
The silver beads are individually hand-hammered, giving them an organic, irregular silhouette rather than a machine-perfect round form. Their surfaces show a warm oxidized patina with bright polished highlights on the raised edges, deep charcoal shadows in the recesses, and visible hammer marks that catch the light unevenly across each face. The beads are not solid — they are hollow-formed sterling silver, which keeps the bracelet light on the wrist despite the substantial visual mass of the metal. Several focal beads stand out: a domed, saucer-shaped silver bead stamped with fine Navajo-style sunburst and scalloped engraving around its shoulder, a fluted melon-shaped silver bead with crisp vertical ribs, and a smooth dome bead with a dark seam line running around its equator. The remaining silver beads are mostly chunky, flattened nugget and disc shapes with softly rounded, irregular edges.
The glass beads provide the color story of the piece.
