This handmade beaded spider ornament, titled "Poisonous Lady" in a black and purple impression palette, is a gothic, Halloween-inspired accessory crafted entirely from wire and beads, with the body armature made of stainless steel wire that is fully shapeable, so if the wire legs become flattened they can be gently bent back into their intended curved posture. The piece can be converted into a brooch (plus 5) or a hairpin (plus 5), and it can also be made as a necklace, offering multiple wearing options while retaining the same sculptural spider form.
The spider's abdomen is the visual centerpiece: a large sphere fully wrapped in densely hand-woven beads ("full wrap" beading over the main bead), worked primarily in vivid matte-finish lilac-purple superduo and round seed beads, interlaced with gunmetal-black faceted seed beads, iris-dark barrel beads, iridescent peacock-sheen glass rounds, and scattered metallic gold accent beads that create a speckled, almost patterned scale effect across the curved surface. The beadwork is tight and uniform, with each stitch visibly even, giving the abdomen a richly textured, quilted, three-dimensional lattice appearance with subtle color gradients between the matte purple, glossy black, and warm gold tones.
The head section is a single large bead with a rotating mechanism: twisting the head reveals two different states — in one orientation it presents as a glossy deep-purple spherical bead with fine vertical ribbing and delicate gold banding running around it, while in the rotated state it shows a smooth, highly polished dark burgundy-black pearl-like face with a soft mirror-like luster. Eight long, arched legs extend symmetrically from the body, each constructed on stainless steel wire and strung with an eclectic sequence of components: elongated twisted black faceted drop beads, dark plum elongated tube beads, lavender and violet bicone crystals, small cobalt-blue and sapphire seed beads, translucent clear glass cylinder beads, silver-lined cube beads, tiny bronze-gold spacers, and black faceted rounds at the joints, with each leg terminating in a small black faceted tip bead and a tiny silver metal loop that serves as an attachment or connection point. The legs taper gracefully and their mixed bead rhythm alternates between matte, glossy, translucent, and metallic finishes, catching light differently along each segment.
