This handcrafted pendant features a whimsical baroque monster character, affectionately known as a little ghost, constructed around a central natural freshwater baroque pearl. The pearl serves as the creature's body, displaying an irregular, organic teardrop silhouette with a lustrous, iridescent surface that shifts between warm cream, champagne, and soft apricot tones. As is characteristic of natural baroque pearls, the gemstone possesses unique surface textures and natural imperfections; the design is oriented so that these irregularities are positioned away from the front face, ensuring a smooth, visually appealing presentation from the primary viewing angle. The pearl is set vertically, tapering slightly toward the bottom where it rests within an ornate, gold-plated metal base.
The metal components are crafted from gold-filled material, providing a rich, warm yellow-gold tone with a high-polish, reflective finish. The base is designed as a decorative, crown-like pedestal featuring intricate filigree work with scalloped edges and embossed scrollwork patterns, adding a baroque aesthetic influence to the piece. Extending from the upper sides of the pearl are two delicate, curved gold wire antennae, each capped with a small, polished spherical bead. At the very top of the pendant, a small gold jump ring is attached for suspension, sitting just above a stylized black bow. This bow is composed of two faceted, triangular black stones or enamel elements that meet at a central gold knot, creating a sharp geometric contrast against the organic curves of the pearl.
A prominent feature of the character is its single, large cyclopean eye, positioned centrally on the upper portion of the pearl. Adding to the playful character design, two small charms are attached near the lower section of the pearl. On the left side, a stylized red chili pepper charm with a green stem is visible, rendered in a matte or semi-gloss finish with a slightly raised, three-dimensional form. On the right side, a small white bird or chick figure is perched, featuring a smooth, glossy white body with a tiny yellow beak and a small black eye dot. The overall construction is entirely handmade, evidenced by the precise assembly of the wirework, the setting of the stones, and the placement of the charms. The piece is delicate and should be handled with care to avoid applying pressure or vigorous rubbing, as the handmade nature and the natural pearl require gentle treatment to maintain their integrity.
