A closer look
This handcrafted necklace features a raw Alashan colorful jasper stone, also known as Gobi tooth stone, suspended from a fine silver-toned ball chain. The stone is an irregular, naturally shaped teardrop with a smooth, polished surface that displays a complex, mottled color palette. Its primary tones are a muted, smoky grey-green, interspersed with soft cream, beige, and pale ochre patches. The stone's surface exhibits a subtle, waxy luster, and when backlit, it reveals a translucent quality with warm amber and golden-brown internal glows, highlighting its natural, unrefined character.
The stone is secured within an intricate, hand-formed wire-wrapped cage made of purple copper wire. The wire has a warm, reddish-brown, antique copper finish with a soft, satin sheen. The wrapping is asymmetrical and organic, with several thicker wires tracing the stone's contours to form a secure frame. These structural wires are embellished with finer gauge wire, which is tightly coiled around them in dense, uniform spirals, creating a rich, textured appearance. Two prominent, tightly wound spiral motifs are positioned on the upper left side of the pendant, adding a decorative, vintage-inspired element to the design.
At the top of the pendant, the copper wire is gathered and coiled to form a sturdy, integrated bail. This bail is constructed from multiple layers of wire, with some sections featuring a woven or basket-like pattern, demonstrating a high level of craftsmanship. The fine silver-toned ball chain passes through this bail, allowing the pendant to hang freely. The contrast between the cool, metallic silver of the chain and the warm, earthy tones of the copper wire and the stone creates a balanced and elegant aesthetic. The overall design is a blend of rustic, natural elements and refined, artistic metalwork, resulting in a unique piece of wearable art.
