A closer look
This wind chime is a handcrafted decorative piece featuring a natural, bohemian aesthetic. The primary structure consists of a circular hoop, approximately 10-12 cm in diameter, which serves as the top frame. This hoop is densely wrapped in a coarse, fibrous jute twine, giving it a rough, matte texture and a light brown, earthy color. Attached to this hoop are several dried botanical elements, including a prominent slice of dried citrus fruit with a pale, off-white rind and a dark brown, segmented interior, as well as dried leaves and seed pods in various shades of brown and tan. The entire assembly is suspended by a thick, braided jute cord loop at the top.
From the wrapped hoop, multiple strands of thinner jute twine descend vertically. These strands are adorned with an assortment of natural and decorative beads. The beads include smooth, spherical wooden beads in light cream and medium brown tones; carved wooden beads shaped like flowers and cat paws; and translucent, faceted glass or acrylic beads in pastel colors such as pink, purple, green, and clear. The beads vary in size, with the largest being a central, light brown, spherical wooden bead that acts as a focal point. The lower section of the wind chime features a cluster of larger, hollowed-out nut shells, likely from a tropical fruit, which are dark brown with a deeply grooved, matte surface. These shells are arranged to chime against each other. At the very bottom, a single, elongated pinecone hangs as a terminal weight.
The overall color palette is dominated by natural earth tones—various shades of brown, tan, and cream—accented by the subtle pastels of the glass beads. The materials exhibit a mix of textures: the rough, fibrous twine; the smooth, polished wood; the hard, glossy glass; and the dry, brittle surfaces of the botanical elements. The construction is entirely manual, with visible knots and ties securing each component. The total length of the wind chime, from the top of the hanging loop to the tip of the bottom pinecone, is approximately 58 cm. The design is asymmetrical and organic, with each strand hanging at a slightly different length, creating a layered, cascading effect. The piece is designed to be hung, and its components are intended to move and produce a gentle, natural sound.
