This is an American-vintage-styled messenger or postman bag crafted from Horween Chromexcel (CXL) leather in a black tea-core finish, meaning the hide is drum-dyed with a warm brown core beneath the black surface layer so that edges, cut faces and future wear marks reveal the rich tan-brown under-tone. The leather carries an oil-and-wax impregnation that gives it a low satin sheen with soft, diffused highlights rather than a hard gloss, and the grain is fine, tight and even, with subtle pull-up character where the panel flexes at the gussets and rounded base corners. The overall silhouette is a clean rectangular satchel with softly radiused lower corners, a full-wrap top flap, and a gently structured body that holds its boxy shape while remaining pliable.
The flap is a single broad panel with a smooth curved lower edge, and it is secured by a narrow vertical closure strap that runs down the center of the front face through a substantial rectangular roller buckle in solid brass with a warm golden hue. This closure strap is punched with a series of adjustment holes, is edged with contrast saddle stitching in a cream or natural tan thread, and is anchored at the bottom by a domed copper rivet with a bright rose-gold tone. Where the strap passes over the flap, a semicircular leather tab is stitched onto the flap face with the same contrasting thread and set with a copper rivet, giving a layered, workwear-derived aesthetic. All hardware is solid copper and brass, with no plated or painted components visible, and the copper rivets are distributed across the flap tab, the closure strap base, and the back panel attachment points.
The back of the bag features a horizontal reinforcing leather band riveted in place with a line of evenly spaced domed copper rivets, terminating in stitched loops that carry brass D-rings or rectangular rings for the strap connection. The shoulder strap is fully detachable via heavy-duty solid brass swivel snap hooks. It is adjustable with a matching brass roller buckle and punched holes, and its wide shoulder section is constructed as two layers of leather bonded back-to-back and secured with double rows of contrast stitching along both edges, finished with pairs of copper rivets at the transition points; the reverse side of this padded section shows the natural undyed flesh side of the leather for grip. The strap edges are burnished so the brown tea-core is visible as a warm outline against the black face.
