A closer look
This handmade leather pen case is constructed from genuine leather, combining vegetable-tanned, oil-waxed, and dyed natural vegetable-tanned leather with crocodile leather. The main body is a soft, muted dusty pink or mauve leather with a smooth, matte to low-sheen finish and a very fine, subtle natural grain. The silhouette is a tall, narrow rectangle with rounded bottom corners and a distinctive top edge shaped like a stylized animal head, featuring two pointed, triangular ear-like projections. The overall proportions are elongated and slim, designed to hold four to five pens.
On the front face, a rectangular panel of dyed crocodile leather is inset into the upper portion of the pink body. This panel is a vivid teal or turquoise green, displaying the characteristic irregular, pebbled scale texture of crocodile hide with a soft, semi-glossy sheen that catches the light across its uneven surface. Above this teal panel, a crescent-shaped piece of darker, muted plum or deep mauve leather forms a curved brow or cap-like element, its smooth surface contrasting with the textured crocodile below. The two ear projections at the top are also lined with this darker plum leather, creating small, triangular inset accents.
Below the teal panel, a decorative dolphin motif is appliquéd onto the pink leather. The dolphin is cut from dark green crocodile leather, showing a pronounced, glossy scale pattern with deep emerald and forest green tones. The dolphin is oriented diagonally, leaping toward the upper left, with a clearly defined snout, dorsal fin, pectoral fin, and a fluked tail. A small, round, light-colored eye is visible near the head. The entire dolphin shape is outlined with thick, contrasting white or cream-colored stitching that follows its contour, giving it a raised, dimensional appearance against the smooth pink background.
The reverse side of the case is shown in the second image, revealing a plain pink leather back with the same smooth, matte finish and fine grain. A horizontal band of the same teal crocodile leather is stitched across the middle of the back, serving as a fixed retaining strap or loop. This strap is secured at both ends with visible white stitching, and its textured, semi-glossy surface contrasts with the matte pink leather. The edges of the entire case are finished with prominent, evenly spaced saddle stitching in a light cream or off-white thread, running continuously around the perimeter and outlining each inset panel and decorative element. The stitching is thick and slightly raised, indicating hand-sewn construction. The edges of the leather appear to be left raw or lightly burnished, showing a natural, slightly fibrous cross-section in places. The case is designed to hold four to five pens, with the back strap providing a means of securing it to a notebook or other object.
