A closer look
This is an oversized crystal bonsai-style ornamental arrangement set in a ceramic pedestal bowl. The bowl itself is a footed compote form, glazed in a glossy black finish with soft, irregular undulating ridges running vertically around the outside of the bowl and down the flared pedestal base, which tapers to a lobed, slightly scalloped foot. The bowl measures 17 cm in diameter and approximately 14 cm in overall height, giving the piece an elevated, chalice-like silhouette. The stated size makes it a large-scale display item rather than a miniature, and it is intended for home decoration as well as for mineral specimen collection.
The centerpiece of the arrangement is a large natural Himalaya citrine crystal cluster, described as a substantial, solid block of natural quartz with a warm golden-yellow to pale honey coloration. The cluster is composed of numerous intergrown hexagonal quartz points of varying sizes, some elongated and sharply terminated, others smaller and more fragmentary. The crystals are translucent to semi-transparent with vitreous luster, showing internal veils, growth striations on the prismatic faces, and small natural inclusions and minor surface imperfections characteristic of untreated natural crystal. In close views the color shifts from near-colorless or milky white at the base, where a rough brownish-grey matrix remnant is still attached, to deeper amber-gold tones toward the points, with faint reddish-brown staining visible in a few crevices.
Balanced against the citrine are two pieces of natural black tourmaline, positioned like dark mountain peaks at the rear of the composition. These specimens are jet-black with a submetallic to vitreous surface sheen and are strongly striated, with dense parallel vertical grooves running the full length of each elongated, tapering crystal body, producing jagged, ridge-like tops and raw, broken edges that emphasize the rugged natural texture. Alongside the tourmaline stands a gnarled piece of driftwood or weathered root, deep reddish-brown in color with a coarse, fissured bark-like surface, on which a small decorative yellow flower is attached, and the arrangement is completed with a cream-colored desert rose ball (barite or gypsum rose) resting on the dark surface, its rosette of layered, petal-like blades creating a fine, layered, matte texture. Decorative artificial foliage including bright green and cream-colored fern fronds and a small sprig of tiny purple blossoms adds vertical accents and color contrast.
