A closer look
This is a handmade shadow box frame featuring a three-dimensional diorama with integrated lighting. The frame is rectangular and constructed from wood with a dark gray or black finish that exhibits a visible wood grain texture. The interior sides of the frame are painted white, creating a clean border that contrasts with the dark exterior and the colorful scene within.
The central artistic element is a large, natural sea urchin shell that has been transformed into a lamp. This shell retains its organic, spherical form with a network of raised ridges forming a geometric pattern. It is illuminated from within, casting a warm, yellow light that shines through the shell's natural perforations, creating a glowing, lantern-like effect. A second, smaller sea urchin shell, painted a vibrant yellow, is also lit from within and positioned lower in the scene.
The background of the diorama is a printed or painted scene depicting a fantastical cosmic or underwater landscape.
