This dual-purpose accessory functions as both a necklace and a headpiece, featuring a complex, multi-layered construction heavily influenced by tribal and bohemian aesthetics. The primary focal point is a central pendant composed of two crossed, off-white bones, likely animal vertebrae, which are securely bound together with coarse, natural-colored jute twine. At the intersection of these bones sits a large, irregularly shaped turquoise stone, characterized by its vibrant blue-green hue and dark matrix veining, encased in a gold-toned metal bezel. From the base of this bone cross, three distinct strands of beads dangle, each terminating in a smooth, white cowrie shell. The central strand is the longest and features a small, antique brass-finished bell at its very end, while the flanking strands are shorter and composed of alternating small turquoise beads and dark brown wooden discs.
The upper portion of the necklace, which rests against the collarbone, is a thick, choker-style band. This band is densely wrapped in multi-colored threads, creating a textured, woven appearance with dominant shades of blue, red, and gold. Attached to this band are two symmetrical clusters of natural, brownish-grey fur, providing a soft, tactile contrast to the harder elements. Nestled between these fur tufts is a miniature, off-white animal skull, possibly a rodent or small mammal, with its horns or antlers extending outward. The central bone cross and its dangling strands hang vertically down the hair, while the fur and skull element sits horizontally across the top. The multi-colored wrapped band and its attached beaded strands frame the sides of the head. The overall color palette is a naturalistic blend of earthy tones—browns, tans, and off-whites—accentuated by the vivid blue of the turquoise and the metallic sheen of the brass components.
