A closer look
This is a handcrafted wire-wrapped pendant designed in the anatomical shape of a beating heart. The central focal point is a large, natural black-body labradorite stone, cut into a smooth, polished teardrop or pear-shaped cabochon. The stone exhibits a deep, dark base color that transitions into a vivid, electric blue labradorescence, with internal flashes of teal and cyan that shift depending on the viewing angle. The surface of the stone is glossy and reflective, showing fine internal fracture lines and natural mineral inclusions characteristic of genuine labradorite.
The wirework is constructed from 14K color-retaining wire, which presents a bright, polished silver-tone finish with a high metallic sheen. The wire is intricately coiled and wrapped around the stone to form the outer frame of the heart, with dense, uniform coiling visible along the edges. The upper portion of the pendant features stylized representations of the heart's major vessels, including the aorta and pulmonary arteries, created through tightly wound wire coils that branch upward and outward. A cluster of polished, spherical silver-tone beads is arranged across the upper section of the stone, resembling the atria or vessel openings, each bead reflecting light with a mirror-like surface.
Across the face of the labradorite, a delicate network of twisted and bent wire forms a branching pattern that mimics the coronary arteries and veins of the heart. These wires are thinner than the frame wire and are shaped into organic, flowing lines that traverse the blue surface of the stone. The wirework shows visible hand-crafted characteristics, including slight variations in coil spacing and minor tool marks, consistent with artisanal wire-wrapping techniques. The overall construction is asymmetrical yet balanced, with the wire elements extending beyond the stone's perimeter to create a three-dimensional, sculptural effect.
The pendant is suspended from a black braided cord, which passes through a wire loop integrated into the top of the vessel structure. The cord has a woven texture with a slight sheen, contrasting with the metallic wire and the luminous stone. The piece is designed as a wearable art pendant, combining mineralogy with anatomical artistry. The natural stone may contain internal features such as cotton-like inclusions, mineral fissures, or minor surface irregularities, which are inherent to natural labradorite and contribute to the uniqueness of each piece. The wirework is delicate and should be handled with care to maintain its structural integrity.
