A closer look
This is a yarn-dyed, fully hand-sewn tulip-themed document folio or flat file pouch built in a patchwork appliqué style. The main body is a slim, softly structured rectangular envelope shape measuring 30 cm in length, 21 cm in height, and 3 cm in depth, giving it a slim, folder-like profile suited to holding papers, documents, notebooks, or small flat items. The base textile is a heathered, earthy brown woven fabric with a visible coarse grain and a slightly fuzzy, woolen surface character, so the underlying weave and tonal flecks in the yarn remain readable rather than being coated or printed over.
The front panel carries a full garden border of hand-appliquéd tulips arranged across the lower half in two staggered rows, rising from layered patchwork leaves and stems. Individual flower heads are built from small cut fabric pieces in a varied yarn-dyed palette: true red, coral red, warm pink, pale blush, cream with pink edging, soft peach, dusty rust, orange-brown, deep magenta and dark burgundy, with several petals showing subtle plaid, check, and fine linear weave patterns inside the color fields. Each tulip shows the natural, slightly irregular cut edges and small stitch irregularities typical of hand appliqué, while the overlapping leaves shift through moss green, olive, sage, and a paler green check, arranged in pointed, blade-like shapes that layer over one another across the bottom edge. On the back panel the same vocabulary is used in a much quieter composition, with a small cluster of just two or three tulips and their leaves set low and off to one side, leaving most of the brown ground visible.
Construction details include a flat zippered top closure running the full length, with the zipper teeth integrated into the upper edge and a fabric-covered pull tab. Attached to the zipper slider is a three-dimensional fabric tulip charm, worked in red and pale pink cloth with green calyx leaves, suspended from a teal-green twisted cord, functioning as both decoration and a tactile grip. A small rectangular fabric loop or tab projects from each upper side of the body, and at one side a wrist strap is connected through a polished brass-toned metal ring with a clasp-style fitting; the strap itself is made from the same coarse brown fabric, padded and finished with visible line stitching along both edges and a reinforced stitched joint where it meets the metal hardware.
Surface and finishing characteristics point to careful hand work: seam lines are even but retain the soft, slightly puckered quality of hand stitching, fabric edges are turned and stitched rather than fused, and the appliqué pieces
