A closer look
This is an A7-format bi-fold leather ring binder notebook cover, presented as a custom-made two-fold journal design in a refined ebony-black and milkshake-white color pairing described as milk-chocolate. The exterior is crafted from Haas Barenia leather in an ebony shade, showing a smooth, fine-grained, lightly waxy surface with a subtle low-sheen finish that reads almost matte under diffuse light, with faint natural hide markings and light surface patina rather than uniform industrial gloss. The overall silhouette is a compact rounded-corner rectangle typical of the A7 pocket format, with softly radiused corners, a gently curved spine edge where the leather folds, and clean, symmetrical proportions that give the closed piece the slim, book-like presence of a classic pocket planner.
Running vertically across the front cover is a flat black woven elastic closure band with a visible tight basket-weave texture, positioned slightly right of center and passing over the cover to hold the binder shut; the same elastic terminates in a small stitched leather tab at the spine area, and a second loop of the same black elastic forms an integrated pen loop. A rose-gold-toned ballpoint pen with a chrome-colored conical tip and spring pocket clip is shown held in a milkshake-white leather pen sleeve, the pen barrel carrying faint stamped text including a partial brand name and the word "JAPAN." The exterior perimeter is finished with high-contrast off-white or cream hand stitching in a saddle-stitch pattern, executed on both sides with a double-wave decorative variation and dense, even stitch spacing that follows the border contours and rounded corners, and the cut edges are sealed with matching edge paint for a smooth, closed finish.
When opened flat, the interior reveals the contrasting Alan Sully milkshake-white leather lining, a soft, fine-pebbled grain leather with a gentle satin surface, set against the ebony leather on the inside of the front and back covers where each cover carries an upper section of the dark leather for visual contrast. The left inside cover features a full pocket panel in milkshake-white leather containing a rounded-corner clear window frame through which a card with an image of a long-haired white cat is visible; the right inside cover carries a large pocket in the same milkshake-white leather with a broad, smooth sweeping curved opening edge that arcs across the panel. Both interior panels are bordered by tonal cream stitching, and the spine region shows stitched leather channels running vertically on either side of the ring mechanism, serving as reinforcement guides and pen or tool slots.
The binder core is a Krause silver-finished metal ring mechanism with a twenty-ring configuration, as specified for this piece, with each ring pair hinged on a polished silver-toned spine bar; the mechanism is a double-grip design with the standard lever bar on the base of the rings and shows
