A closer look
This piece is a handcrafted wire-wrapped pendant necklace with an ocean-inspired, deep-sea silhouette that resembles a coiled nautilus shell fused with a stylized crustacean form. The entire frame is built from copper wire, hand-shaped and densely coiled; the wire carries an antiqued, gunmetal-grey oxidized finish with darker recesses between the wraps and brighter silver-grey highlights along the raised coil ridges, giving the surface a rustic, slightly uneven handmade character. Because the wire is copper, it is expected to darken and develop a vintage patina over time.
The core of the pendant is a large round domed cabochon set dead center, held in place by a tight woven bezel of fine wire. Its body is a deep translucent olive-green that shifts to a golden-yellow glow at the center, filled with fine sparkling flecks resembling a starfield or scattered metallic shimmer, and its polished dome surface reflects light as a bright pinpoint highlight. Radiating around the right side of this stone are several straight, tapered wire spines fanning outward like skeletal legs or rays, while a web of fine parallel wires arcs over the upper left, framing the stone in a fan of thin metallic strands.
Protruding diagonally from the upper left is a clear quartz-style crystal point, faceted with a hexagonal body and a naturally terminated tip, transparent with faint internal veils that catch the light. It is bound at its base by a cluster of fine wire coils that anchor it into the main structure. Below the central stone, the wire work builds into a tapering, ridged body made of stacked horizontal wraps of varying density, creating the segmented, ribbed appearance of a shell or thorax that narrows toward a small finial of crossed wire tips at the bottom.
The pendant hangs from a thick braided cord in a woven chevron pattern of variegated brown, taupe, and pale sand tones, giving it an earthy, tribal texture that contrasts with the cool metal. Wooden beads in warm honey-amber and dark brown with visible wood grain are threaded along the cord, alongside a carved dark button-style toggle closure with a spiral motif used for fastening. The braiding is tight and uniform, and the cord attaches at the top of the pendant through a densely wrapped wire bail that is integrated seamlessly into the shell structure.
Overall the design reads as dark artisan fantasy jewelry: asymmetrical, organic, and sculptural, with strong textural interplay between smooth crystal, glittering cabochon, matte woven cord,
