A closer look
This handmade Miffy-themed coaster is a square, double-sided textile accessory designed for use as a cup coaster or a small display mat for decorative items. One side features a vivid red base adorned with soft, blurred white polka dots, created with a plush, high-pile fleece texture that gives the surface a fuzzy, velvety appearance. Centered on this side is a white applique of the Miffy rabbit head, crafted from a shorter-pile white fabric and attached with visible, slightly irregular stitching that emphasizes its handcrafted character. The rabbit's facial features—two small black oval eyes and a tiny black cross-shaped mouth—are embroidered directly onto the applique, with slight variations in placement and tension that reflect individual hand-sewing.
The reverse side of the coaster presents a contrasting dark chocolate brown surface scattered with small, crisp white five-pointed stars, maintaining the same soft, plush fleece texture as the front. A bright red stitched border runs along the perimeter of this side, providing a clean edge finish and a visual link to the red polka-dot face. The coaster is constructed as a padded, quilted mat with rounded corners, giving it a soft, cushioned profile that is thick enough to protect surfaces from drinkware while remaining flexible. The overall construction is soft and unstructured, with no rigid internal frame, allowing it to conform slightly to the shape of objects placed upon it.
The material is specified as imported Korean plush fabric, characterized by its dense, soft fibers and subtle sheen under light, which creates gentle highlights and shadows across the textured surface. The fabric's pile catches the light to produce a slight gradient effect, with the white polka dots and stars appearing luminous against the deeper red and brown backgrounds. The stitching throughout is functional and decorative, with visible thread lines along the applique edges and the perimeter binding, reinforcing the artisanal, small-batch quality of the piece. The edges are finished with a simple turned seam, and the overall surface uniformity is consistent with handcrafted textile work, showing minor natural variations in dot and star placement.
In terms of scale, the coaster is sized to comfortably accommodate a standard drinking glass or mug, as demonstrated by its use beneath a tall glass of iced coffee in the product imagery. It also functions effectively as a base for small plush toys or decorative figurines, providing a stable, non-slip surface due to the friction of the plush fabric. The double-sided design offers two distinct aesthetic options—one playful and bright with red and white polka dots, the other more subdued with brown and white stars—allowing the user to switch between looks depending on preference or setting.
The product is available in a selection of fabric colors and patterns beyond the red polka-dot and brown star versions shown, with options including additional colorways and designs such as star patterns. Each piece is handmade, and the facial expressions of the rabbit applique are sewn individually, resulting in subtle differences from one unit to another. Due to the manual construction process, minor imperfections may be present, and hand-measured dimensions can vary by approximately 1 to 2 centimeters. The design is inspired by the classic Miffy character aesthetic, combining simple geometric shapes, minimal facial features, and a soft, approachable color palette to create a charming, functional accessory.
