A closer look
This is a handcrafted crystal bonsai decorative arrangement presented in a white ceramic footed bowl. The bowl stands on a short, smooth cylindrical pedestal foot beneath a wide, shallow basin with a thick, slightly flared rim and a subtly grainy matte exterior surface; the material is ceramic, and the vessel is referred to as a 13cm tall-footed plate, giving the piece a compact tabletop scale of roughly 13cm in overall height. The bowl's interior is filled with a bed of small clear and milky-white polished crystal chips and fragments that read like snow or gravel at the base of a miniature mountain scene, creating a cool, luminous foundation for the composition.
The central feature is a hand-arranged cluster of blue kyanite rough stones, selected and positioned to evoke the snow mountains of the artwork's title. These kyanite pieces display the mineral's characteristic bladed, splintery crystal habit: elongated flat blades and columnar towers with fine parallel striations running lengthwise along their faces, terminating in jagged, pointed, mountain-like peaks. Coloration ranges from deep denim and cobalt blue in the denser cores to pale sky blue, grayish-white and near-colorless at the edges, with occasional warm tan, ochre and rust-brown staining in the crevices where matrix material clings to the crystals. The surfaces are naturally rough and fractured, with soft pearly to silky luster catching the light along the striations, while several blades have been arranged vertically to form distinct summits of varying height, the tallest positioned toward the rear so the composition rises in a stepped, triangular silhouette.
Flanking and fronting the kyanite peaks are large natural crystal clusters, likely quartz or celestite in appearance, formed of dense, druzy, glassy points in translucent pale blue-white. Their surfaces are highly faceted and glittering, providing a contrasting texture to the matte, fibrous kyanite, and smaller broken crystal rubble of the same pale blue material is scattered around their bases to blend them into the chip-filled ground layer. One dark, nearly black-green translucent stone also appears among the lighter material, acting as a visual anchor. The overall effect is that of a miniature alpine landscape: rugged blue-white rock masses, crystalline snowfields and scattered icy rubble, all densely packed and rising above the rim of the bowl.
The arrangement is accented with botanical elements that extend the vertical reach of the composition: slender, finely divided fern-like fronds in pale cream-white, champagne gold and soft sky blue rise behind and between the stone peaks,
