A closer look
This is a handcrafted wire-wrapped pendant featuring a large labradorite cabochon at its center. The product is described as an original handmade piece created with copper wire, and the visual evidence shows an intricate, ornamental design built entirely from hand-shaped metal strands surrounding and securing the stone. The pendant is suspended from a thin black cord, which passes through an integrated wire bail at the top of the metalwork, allowing it to hang at the upper chest when worn.
The centerpiece stone is an oval, polished labradorite cabochon with a smooth, glossy domed surface. Its internal structure displays the characteristic labradorcence effect: shifting flashes of iridescent green, turquoise-blue, and warm yellow-gold light that travel across the surface as the viewing angle changes, set against a darker olive-green to charcoal body color. Natural internal veining and thin structural lines run diagonally through the stone, giving it a complex, layered, organic appearance with a glassy reflective sheen that contrasts with the matte and semi-gloss tones of the surrounding metal.
The metalwork is rendered in copper wire that has been given a dark, oxidized or antiqued finish, resulting in a deep gunmetal-gray to near-black color with subtle brighter silver-gray highlights along the raised edges and curves where light catches the wire. The wire is not uniform in tone: recessed areas appear darker and more matte, while the polished high points exhibit a cool metallic luster, creating strong tonal contrast throughout the piece. The overall aesthetic reads as dark, sculptural, and slightly gothic or fantasy-inspired, with an ornamental, artisan quality that gives the pendant a bold, statement-making character.
In terms of construction, the stone is seated within a multi-layered wire frame. Several thick base wires form a continuous oval bezel around the cabochon, with additional finer wires lashed and bound across them at regular intervals using small, tight coiling wraps. Around the left and lower portions of the frame, rows of these fine binding coils create a ribbed, textured effect similar to stitching, holding the structural wires firmly in place. On the right side of the stone, a curving wire segment sweeps upward and terminates in a small, tightly wound spiral, while the bottom of the frame is finished with additional coiled clusters that secure the layered wires together. The wire terminals are tucked and wrapped rather than left exposed, and the overall surface shows consistent, deliberate shaping without visible tool marks, indicating careful, controlled handwork.
The top of the pendant features the most decorative element: an elaborate cluster of free-form scrolls, swirls, and spirals that rise above the stone in an asymmetrical arrangement. Multiple coils of varying diameter curl and overlap, forming a dense, organic crown of curved lines that culminates in a looped bail through which the cord is threaded. The spirals are tightly and uniformly wound, and the flowing curves echo the natural, fluid lines seen in the stone's internal veining, tying the metal and mineral elements together into one cohesive design
