This pendant features a large natural pearl set at its center, described as a baroque South Sea pearl with an average diameter of 14.3 mm at the measured point. The pearl is a natural seawater pearl, and the piece is a one-of-a-kind design where natural surface variation and minor imperfections are inherent to the material. The pearl is round to slightly baroque in form, showing a domed, luminous surface with soft, undulating contour variations typical of organic gem growth.
The color of the pearl is a cool, deep grey-blue, often referred to as a blue-silver tone, with a strong silvery overtone that shifts toward pale blue and faint green as it moves under light. The luster is high and satiny, with broad, diffuse highlights across the dome, a mirror-like sheen that reflects surrounding illumination, and subtle iridescent flashes of blue and green across the nacre. Fine, naturally occurring surface texture, including faint ripples and minor blemishes, is visible on the nacre and is consistent with the natural character of the pearl.
The pearl is held in a polished silver-toned bezel that grips the stone evenly around its circumference, leaving the dome of the pearl fully exposed above the metal rim. The pendant body takes the shape of a symmetrical shield or kite form, wider across the upper shoulders and tapering to a point at the bottom. The four edges are gently convex rather than strictly straight, giving the silhouette a softened, slightly bulging profile, and the frame reads as slightly thicker at the sides than at the pointed base.
Radiating outward from the central bezel, the metal field is worked with a fine, densely engraved sunburst texture consisting of numerous closely spaced grooves that fan toward each corner and edge of the shield. These striations create a play of alternating bright and dark reflections, so the metal appears to shimmer and shift as the pendant moves, reinforcing the cool blue-silver color story. Surrounding this textured field is a raised, continuous border set with a single row of small, round, clear brilliant-cut stones that trace the entire outline of the shield.
