This is a handmade clay planter formed from ceramic clay body and finished with a high-temperature firing process, carrying a matte black glaze across its exterior surfaces. The glaze reads as a deep, uniform charcoal-to-soot black, essentially non-reflective with only a faint soft sheen where diffuse light grazes the curves, and it presents a fine granular, sandpaper-like micro-texture rather than a smooth or polished skin, with tiny pinholes and speckled irregularities consistent with a stoneware-like granular slip beneath the matte coating.
The silhouette is a symmetrical, funnel or hourglass form: a broad circular rim flaring outward at the top, dropping into a double-ridged collar band defined by two horizontal concave grooves running around the full circumference, then tapering down through a concave waist before flaring gently again into a slightly narrower circular base. Seen in profile the walls curve continuously and evenly, with the widest point at the rim and the narrowest at the waist, giving a balanced, architecturally clean profile with a heavy, grounded stance. The rim itself is thick and rounded in cross-section, extending well beyond the collar beneath it to form a pronounced overhanging lip.
In the measurements shown against the steel rule, the overall height from the base to the top of the rim is approximately 15 centimeters, and the outer diameter across the widest rim reads at roughly 19 to 20 centimeters, making it a compact tabletop or shelf-scale vessel whose diameter exceeds its height.
