Natural Tea Skeleton Quartz Crystal Specimen 94g
- Stubby blocky mass with an irregular, asymmetric outline
- Deep smoky tea-brown fading to translucent amber-brown edges
- Glassy faces contrasting etched, frosted, skeletal texture
Type: Natural quartz crystal specimen, tea-colored skeletal quartz
Materials: Natural quartz
Finish / color: Smoky tea-brown to near-black, uneven and mottled; glassy to vitreous faces alongside etched, frosted, matte areas
The crystal rests free-standing on its flattened, rugged base, so it works as a shelf or desk display piece on its own. It pairs well with other raw mineral specimens, and a coin placed beside it gives a quick sense of its compact scale.

Desk accent for a natural, earthy interior
Mineral or quartz collection
Close-up study of skeletal growth and phantom layering
Unstyled natural decor in a living space
Dust with a soft, dry cloth; avoid abrasive pads.
Keep away from harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaning.
Store padded and separate from harder stones to protect edges.
Internal features include pale phantom formations, thin ice-like fracture lines, cotton-like milky inclusions, and small surface mineral deposits. Fine parallel striations, shallow pits, and weathered irregularities appear across the broken edges and termination zones.

A closer look
This is a single, unpolished natural quartz crystal specimen classified as a tea-colored skeletal quartz, commonly referred to as tea skeleton crystal. Its overall silhouette is that of a stubby, roughly blocky crystal mass with an irregular, asymmetric outline rather than a perfectly symmetrical prism. The habit shows partial, naturally formed terminations on the upper portion, with broken and etched faces elsewhere, consistent with a piece that was separated from a larger natural crystal cluster without grinding or artificial faceting. The specimen has a compact, free-standing form that rests on a flattened, rugged base.
The dominant coloring is a deep smoky tea-brown to near-black tone, concentrated in denser, more opaque zones and thinning into translucent amber-brown areas toward the edges. These translucent zones allow light to pass through unevenly, producing shifting internal shades of warm honey, pale tan, and dark charcoal where the mineral is thicker. The color distribution is naturally uneven and mottled rather than uniform, with darker concentration bands and lighter streaks interspersed throughout the body of the crystal.
The surface texture presents a deliberate contrast between two distinct finishes. Several broad, naturally grown faces exhibit a smooth, glassy to vitreous luster that reflects light sharply, revealing the crystal's underlying clarity. By contrast, other areas show a rough, etched, and frosted or matte texture, characterized by irregular ridges, grooves, and skeletal growth formations. Fine parallel striations are visible on some of the flatter faces, running as delicate grooves across the surface. The broken edges and termination zones display chipped, rugged micro-facets with small, shallow mineral pits, natural cracks, and weathered surface irregularities rather than polished smoothness.
Internally, the crystal carries visible natural inclusions and characteristic features typical of genuine quartz. Pale, ghost-like phantom formations appear inside the darker matrix, showing as translucent, whitish to beige-brown layered internal structures that trace earlier growth stages of the crystal. Thin ice-like fracture lines, known as ice cracks or internal fissures, run through portions of the body, along with cotton-like, cloud-like milky inclusions and small mineral deposits adhering to the outer surfaces. These features appear as part of the stone's natural
